How do I cancel my membership?
If you are an active member and wish to cancel your membership, you must do so by emailing [email protected]. Be sure to provide the first and last name on the account as well as a phone number and/or your agreement number. Once the email is sent, one of our staff members will reply with any further details needed.
What’s the policy for cancelling a membership?
Cancellations must be submitted in written form! Verbal requests in person or on the phone are never accepted for cancellations. We prefer you to send an email to [email protected], but we also accept written notice by way of postal service.
Depending on the terms of your agreement, you may be subject to an early termination fee, or you may simply need to submit a 60-day notice of cancellation. (You will be responsible for any payments included within the 60-day time period.)
If you choose to cancel by postal service, it is recommended that you send your notice by registered or certified mail or statutory overnight delivery (return receipt requested) in order to prove that you did cancel. If you do hand deliver your cancellation, be sure to get a signed statement from a staff member of the gym acknowledging your cancellation.
Is there a fee to cancel?
Depending on the terms of your agreement, you may be subject to an early termination fee.
If you are cancelling before your 1, 2, or 3 year contract has been fulfilled, you may be subject to an early termination fee of $399, $699, or $999 respectively OR you may simply have to pay the remaining balance on the contract (the lesser of the two options).
Do I have to pay the early termination fee?
If you have not fulfilled the terms of your 1, 2, or 3 year contract, you may be subject to the early termination fee.
The early termination fee is waived, however, if you have a change in address resulting in a distance of 25 miles or further from all Team Octopus locations. The early termination fee may also be waived for medical reasons expressed by your doctor which prevent you from participating in Team Octopus workouts.
Under newer agreements, you do not have to pay an early termination fee. You may simply submit a 60-day notice of cancellation. (You will be responsible for any payments included within the 60-day time period.)
I’m cancelling my membership. Why do I still have to make another payment?
A 30 day notice is required to process and cancel all requests. If your billing date falls within this 30 day period, you may be subject to paying for one more month of membership dues.
