Originally from Macon, GA, Tyra has been a sports enthusiast her entire life, dreaming of coaching since she was a child. Her career took off at the tender age of 17 when she made history in North Carolina as part of the first professional female MMA fight in the state. Tyra’s journey continued with notable organizations like Wild Bills Fight Night, Strikeforce, and Gladiator Challenge. On June 25, 2010, Tyra became the first female main event in Georgia, fighting alongside her teammate Guilherme Cury at Wild Bills Fight Night 28. She pursued a UFC career in San Diego, training under legends like Dean Lister, Jeff Glover, and Jocko Willink until a severe neck injury brought her MMA journey to an end. Throughout her career, Tyra faced top-tier fighters, including Michelle Waterson, Nina Nunes, and Michelle Gutierrez, and was one of the few to take Tatiana Suarez, currently the #1 ranked women’s UFC strawweight, to a decision. A dedicated member of Team Octopus for the past year, Tyra has found her home training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with her longtime friend and coach, Guilherme Cury, and her boyfriend of eight years, Ralph Ospina. Now, she’s thrilled to bring her experience and passion to our Strength & Conditioning and Cardio Kickboxing classes. Tyra’s mission is to equip our members with the tools and knowledge to look and feel like professional fighters, all while ensuring a controlled and safe environment.
